The newly elected National Democratic Congress (NDC) parliamentary candidate for the Ningo Prampram constituency for the 2016 general elections, Sam George, has extended an olive branch to veteran politician E.T Mensah.

“I and Hon ET Mensah together will deliver this seat for the NDC come 2016 and we will deliver it together for His Excellency John Dramani Mahama” he said in an interview Monday.

The Presidential staffer expressed his regret with the confusion that rocked the race between him and E.T Mensah, and asked the former to accept him as his son.

George managed to dethrone E.T Mensah at the weekend’s NDC primaries, after a fierce contest.

Results from 22 constituencies gave George some 4,910 votes representing 63.5 percent of votes cast as against Mensah’s 2,831 (36.5 percent).

George, on Saturday  claimed he was beaten by some men believed to be supporters of Mr. E. T Mensah.

The attack came several hours after elections were postponed in the constituency due to allegations of a tampered-with register, made by George.

Meanwhile, George will face Sylvester Tetteh of the opposition New Patriotic Party in a constituency that has traditionally been a stronghold of the NDC.
