Oyarifa Ward Youth Organiser of the ruling National Democratic Congress (NDC) George Boateng, says he will not waste his time in campaigning for President John Dramani Mahama to be retained as leader of the country in the 2016 general elections.

His reason; because he is corrupt.

He contends that President Mahama has diverted from the core principles of the party’s ethos of probity and accountability, a situation he said has brought its name into disrepute.

The President, he told Kasapa 102.3 FM does not warrant a second term in office, promising to make sure that a good number of party followers will vote against his candidature in next year’s general elections.

Mr. Boateng who was denied the opportunity to contest the President in the just ended Presidential and Parliamentary polls of the party told Kasapa News’ Kwasi Nsiah in an interview Monday that he will campaign vigorously ahead of the 2016 elections to make sure that he (Mahama) is unseated.

A reformed party, he added, would seek to select a credible candidate to lead them in future elections.

“I can’t go and campaign for President Mahama like I did before. We are Rawlings’ family who believes in probity and accountability and when a country is entrusted in your hands you’re expected to manage it well to the admiration of all. But the President has veered off our principles and that is the reason why I cannot go and campaign for him to be retained,” he said.

He added “if we go into opposition we can be able to make reforms to elect a credible candidate who will lead us in future elections.”
