Residents of Assin Ocheso in the Central Region are bitterly complaining over an abandoned police station in the Community for over five years, as thieves have taken over the community robbing them at night.

According to the residents, due to poor security in the area, their lives are in danger as thieves and armed robbers attack them consistently

The residents in an interview with Kasapa News, Yaw Boagyan explained that police officers have declined postings to the village as it lacks telecommunication, network, and bad roads.

They said, their farm produce, domestic animals are always stolen by thieves since police station has not been operational.

They said, armed robbers have been robbing them at gunpoint, hence are appealing to the Inspector General of Police and the Government to immediately commission the police station and post police personnel to facility to reduce the high rate of criminal activities in the area.

Meanwhile, the Secretary of Assin Ocheso Community Development Committee, Akwesi Addo in an interview blamed the Member of Parliament for Assin South Hon. Rev. John Ntim Fordjour and the District Chief Executive for abandoning the Police Station.

He said, the community is willing to support any police personnel posted to the area.

According to Akwesi Addo, they have written several letters to the Central Regional Police Command, IGP and whoever is responsible to supply them with police personnels but there’s not been any positive feedback.

He said, poor road network and lack of telecommunication network has been the main reasons preventing police personnel from accepting postings to the area.

The Secretary further said though community members always clear the weed surrounding the police station, nothing is done to put it to use thereby making their efforts useless.
