The National Labour Commission (NLC) will today meet leadership of the Colleges of Education Teachers Association of Ghana (CETAG) over their strike two-week-old strike action in demand for better conditions of service.

Members from all 46 Training Colleges have been on strike since August 1 citing government’s failure to adhere to the National Labour Commission’s arbitral award orders and negotiated conditions of service since May 2 this year.

Today’s meeting seeks to chart a path forward as the Teachers maintain they won’t back down until their concerns are addressed.

In an interview with Starr News, the President of CETAG, Prince Obeng-Hima said he’s confident of a favourable outcome of the meeting.

“We are waiting to hear what will happen on Wednesday. We are going into that meeting full of confidence on Wednesday. We expect fairness, rule of law. We will look at the National Labour Commission exercising its powers by going to the Superior Courts to compel the government to comply with the directive that the NLC on its own volition came out with on the 2nd of May 2023.”
