A three-day national mourning for victims of last Wednesday June 3’s floods and inferno has started. The exercise is a Government of Ghana initiative announced last week.

Ghana recorded its worst disaster in decades on June 3, when torrential rains displaced many and killed several others. A filling station blast also led to the death of over 200 people, officials say.

Relief efforts from state agencies are being carried out in affected areas. On Saturday, officials of the National Disaster Management Organisation (NADMO) presented items worth thousands of Ghana cedi to affected persons.
