The Ghana Tertiary Education Commission (GTEC) has written to the Controller and the Accountant General’s Department (CAGD) to stop payment of salaries to striking members of the Colleges of Education Teachers Association of Ghana (CETAG) for August.

The Education Minister, Dr Yaw Osei-Adutwum ordered the writing of the letter dated Monday (21 August) indicating that “any arrears before August 2023 should be validated and paid.”

Members from all 46 Training Colleges have been on strike since August 1 citing government’s failure to adhere to the National Labour Commission’s arbitral award orders and negotiated conditions of service since May 2 this year.
