The Ashanti Regional campaign team of Kennedy Ohene Agyapong has responded to threats issued by the Ashanti regional Chairman of the governing New Patriotic Party, (NPP), Bernard Antwi Boasiako, popularly known as Chairman Wontumi.
At a press conference Wednesday, October 4, 2023, spokesperson for the Assin Central MP’s Campaign in the Ashanti Region, William Kusi asked Chairman Wontumi to demand the murderers of Ahmed Hussein Suale from Vice President Mahamudu Bawumia.
He said, the Ghana Police Service was required to investigate the murder of the investigative journalist Ahmed Suale and would be required to provide a report to the Chair of the Police Council who is the Vice President.
William Kusi therefore stressed that any questions on the said murder should be channeled to the Vice President Dr. Mahammadu Bawumia’s office and not the Assin Central Member of Parliament.
The comments come after Mr. Antwi Boasiako had threatened to arrest Ken Agyapong if he dared issue threats at him again.
At a press conference Wednesday, Wontumi said investigative journalist Ahmed Hussein Suale was murdered after the MP threatened him on live television and would not countenance such threats from the lawmaker.
Chairman Wontumi’s comments followed threats issued at him by Ken Agyapong during the “showdown” walk in the Ashanti regional capital, Kumasi, over the weekend.
The Assin Central MP’s campaign team further demanded accountability from Bernard Antwi Boasiako on alleged 20% government deduction from one million dollars per constituency projects budget which was allocated to him for party work and the construction of the party regional office.
