Member of Parliament for Assin Central and former New Patriotic Party (NPP) Flagbearer aspirant, Ken Agyapong was on Tuesday November 7, 2023, welcomed by the Minority on the floor of Parliament with chants of “Presidoo”.

The firebrand politician who donned a white clothe could not hide his excitement as the chants blurred in the lawmaking house. It was his first day in the Chamber after the NPP Flagbearer election over the weekend.

The Chairman of the Parliamentary Committee on Defence and Interior was beaten in the race by incumbent Vice President, Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia to become the NPP flagbearer for the 2024 election.

While addressing the crowd following the declaration of the winner of the contest, Ken Agyapong made a strong call for unity in the NPP to enable the party retain power in 2024 general election.

“My fellow patriots,” Agyapong began, “today may not be our day, but that doesn’t mean our mission is over.

“It’s time to rise above our differences and look ahead to 2024. We have to come together and give the National Democratic Congress (NDC) a showdown they won’t forget.”
