As part of its mandate to cater for the welfare of students in Ghana, the National Union of Ghana Students (NUGS) has embarked on a mission to support students affected by the Akosombo dam spillage in the North and Central Tongu districts.

President of NUGS, Daniel Oppong Kyeremeh, together with his National Officers and selected Volunteer Teachers from NUGS’ member institutions arrived at Adidome to join an already dispatched team of volunteers in the Central and North Tongu Districts.

According to the president of the union , the initiative was aimed at assisting the young, displaced students to catch up with the curriculum to enhance their academic performance.

He noted that the Union is working relentlessly to provide the students with proper help and resources needed to lessen their struggles during the challenging time.

“Together, we can make a difference by supporting these children to bring hope to them in this difficult time,” he said.

Mr. Kyeremeh also expressed his appreciation to all who supported their project, particularly some three NGOs, and urged others to emulate.

The student-based union also presented some relief items including books, clothes, food, drinks, and other stationery to the affected schools.
