Corporate lawyer and leading member of the New Patriot Party NPP), Gabby Otchere Darko has said he has influence but not power, contrary to the widely held view by a section of the public.
Mr Otchere Darko cousin of President Akufo-Addo was described by the opposition National Democratic Congress (NDC) in November 2019, as the De Facto Prime Minister of Ghana in its 51 list of family, friends and cronies of Akufo-Addo in government.
Many believe that although he has no political appointment, he wields a lot of power in government circles as he’s able to pull strings at will.
But reacting to the issue in an interview with Bola Ray on Starr Chat on Starr FM Thursday, Gabby Otchere Darko said claims of the huge power he wields in government is nothing but a mere creation of political opponents.
”I have influence but I don’t have any power. You’ve come to me a few times to get things done but couldn’t help you. A powerful person is the one who takes decisions, who can make things happen. Someone with influence will try to persuade but at the end of the day, the responsibility is not with me., it is with the person who takes decisions. So that is the person with power.”
