Tension is currently brewing in the New Juaben Traditional Area in Eastern Region over an attempt to remove Black Stool from the room of Adwamponhemaa.
Armed Police men in uniform from the New Juaben Police Divisional Command on Thursday 1st February, 2024 escorted three individuals Yaw Buatey, Kwaku Beng and Kofi Anim from the royal family of the Juaben Traditional Council who broke and ransacked the stool room in an attempt to take away the black stool.
The attempt, which occurred on the midnight of Wednesday, January 31, 2024, was initially thwarted by the Queen Mother’s resistance at the gate.
Undeterred, the three individuals reportedly sought police escort and made a second attempt, successfully breaking into the stool room on Thursday, February 1, 2024.
According to Nana Akosua Afrakoma, the Adwampong Hemaa of New Juaben Traditional Area, this orchestrated move is perceived as a ploy by the traditional council to install a Chief, a decision she vehemently opposes.
The Queen Mother alleges that the motive behind the Black Stool’s removal is a calculated effort to sideline her from the traditional process.
The escalating tension calls for urgent intervention to address the underlying issues and maintain peace within the community.
