The National Association of Graduate Teachers (NAGRAT) is urging government to address the issue of unbridled political interference negatively affecting the country’s educational system.

At a ceremony to mark the 25th anniversary of NAGRAT, the Volta Regional Chairman of the Association, David Geli said the situation continues to affect the work and conditions of service of teachers.

According to him, though the association has made significant impact on the work and welfare of teachers since its establishment, unbridled political interference continues to undermine their efforts.

He said, the situation has affected the promotion and other welfare issues of its members especially at the pre-tertiary level.

Touching on the silver jubilee celebration of NAGRAT, Mr Geli touted that the association has been a forerunner for industrial union advocacies culminating in immeasurable benefits for members.

He used the occasion to admonish teachers across the country to upholding the ethical standards of the profession.

The 25th anniversary is a year-long celebration, with each region assigned a particular month to celebrate the event and to be climaxed in October 2024 with a National event.
