The Electoral Commission (EC) has declared that a by-election in Ejisu, in the Ashanti Region, will take place on April 30, 2024, following the death of Member of Parliament for the area, Dr. John Kumah on March 7, 2024,

On Saturday, April 6, 2024, the vetting committee approved all nine candidates vying to compete in the constituency’s Parliamentary primary for the New Patriotic Party.

On Tuesday, April 2, 2024, the ruling party announced the opening of nominations. By the time nominations ended on Thursday, April 4, all nine had successfully filed.

The NPP has scheduled the constituency’s parliamentary candidate election for Saturday, April 13, 2024.

Other political parties have not yet shown interest in running in the by-election.

The main opposition party the National Democratic Congress (NDC) says it is still debating whether or not to participate in the by-election.
