Graduate unemployed Nurses and Midwives defied the heavy rainfall on Tuesday to embark on a protest to demand that the government employs them immediately.

The hundreds of health professionals expressed their displeasure over lack of employment as some of them have stayed home for four years after completing school.

The aggrieved nurses and midwives who massed up at the premises of the Ministry of Health said they have stayed home for far too long and it is time for the government to post them to the various health facilities to enable to work after acquiring a lot of knowledge in school.

“We want the Ministries of Health and Finance to work together and get us employed. We have stayed home for far too long after acquiring a lot of knowledge in school. We want to go out there and help save lives, that is why we went to school. The government must help us realize our dreams by getting us employed. We are not happy the way we are being treated, enough is enough. Some of us have been staying home since 2020 after completing school. This’s not fair,” one of the aggrieved unemployed nurses said.

The Public Relations Officer of the Ministry of Health, Isaac Ofei addressing the nurses and midwives promised to conduct an investigation into alleged bribery and corruption taking place in respect of their employment.
