The Ministry of Health (MoH) has directed the Ghana Health Service (GHS) to present a detailed report on the investigation into the alleged abandonment of a patient at Gomoa Ojobi, Central Region, within a 30-day timeframe.

The GHS announced on Friday, June 14, that it had commenced a probe into the incident after members of the public expressed outrage following a video of the woman’s predicament which went viral on social media.

The now deceased woman believed to be in her 60s had P.O.P on both legs and had her wheelchair parked beside her in the bush.

Some residents of Gomoa Ojobi allege that they witnessed an ambulance from the Winneba Trauma and Specialist Hospital dumping the patient in the bush at about 8:30pm on Tuesday.

In a directive to the GHS dated Friday, June 14, Dr Bernard Okoe Boye, the Health Minister, stressed that “It is the position of the Ministry that this process is concluded within a maximum of 30 days from the date of constitution of the committee and a report submitted to my office.”
