Political Marketing Strategist and Professor Kobby Mensah says that the running mate of the New Patriotic Party (NPP), Dr. Matthew Opoku Prempeh, has not yet realized that his portfolio has changed.

He should be aware of how to conduct himself publicly, especially regarding his utterances.

According to him, the outgoing Minister for Energy missed the opportunity to appear presidential and dismiss the tagging on him during his unveiling in Kumasi on Tuesday.

Dr. Opoku Prempeh has come under heavy criticism following his claim that the incumbent President, Nana Akufo-Addo, has outperformed all previous presidents, including Ghana’s first president after independence, Kwame Nkrumah.

Speaking at a rally in Kumasi, where he was officially introduced as the running mate, the former Education Minister described President Akufo-Addo’s achievements as unprecedented.

However, speaking in an interview with Starr News, Professor Kobby Mensah stated that the Vice-Presidential position is a revered and dignified one, but Dr. Opoku Prempeh failed to display that.

He added that Dr. Opoku Prempeh sounded like a hype man on stage, forgetting his new role as running mate.

“It hadn’t dawned on him the role that he was playing. I don’t think so. Because he is carrying himself as if he’s a hype man. You’re not a hype man. The Vice-Presidential position is a very dignified one. So there is a certain ambiance that you are supposed to bring to that particular level. There is a certain way that you have to carry yourself. That rabble-rousing does not augur well for such a status.”
