Dr. Matthew Opoku Prempeh, widely known as NAPO, has vowed that the New Patriotic Party (NPP) will emerge stronger after its defeat in the 2024 elections.
In a statement released on Wednesday, December 11, 2024, the party’s Vice Presidential candidate acknowledged the party’s loss but expressed confidence in the NPP’s ability to bounce back.
NAPO acknowledged the National Democratic Congress’s (NDC) victory, saying it wasn’t the outcome the NPP had hoped for, but they respect the verdict of the Ghanaian people.
Dr. Opoku Prempeh emphasised that the NPP is committed to reflecting on the election’s outcome and learning from it.
He assured Ghanaians that the party would use this period of introspection to emerge stronger and regain the trust and support of the people.
The NPP’s Vice Presidential candidate has already begun reflecting on the election outcome with the party’s flag bearer, Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia.
NAPO expressed gratitude to Bawumia for nominating him as his running mate and to the NPP leadership for their support.
He said, “The 2024 Presidential and Parliamentary elections resulted in a victory for the National Democratic Congress (NDC). This was not the outcome we, in the NPP, envisaged; but we respect the verdict of the Ghanaian people. To Ghanaians, we have heard you clearly and with humility we accept. We will work with you to get it right”
“I believe in the NPP’s values, ideals and traditions. As we go into a period of honest introspection and reflection on this electoral verdict, I am confident that we will emerge stronger, and bounce back to win the trust, confidence, support and affection of Ghanaians.”
