Energy expert, Dr. Eric Donyinah has made remarks that if there is money to buy gas , power and stable electricity shouldn’t be a problem.

Following the recent news of potential power crisis in the coming days, he said this concerning the fact that Ghana buys gas to generate electricity.

” 60% of our electricity is generated from natural gas. So if there is money to buy this natural gas, power shouldn’t be a problem”. He said

In an interview with Akua Oteng Amponsah on kasapa fm he stated that the only problem there is finances that can be used to buy the gas for electricity and the cleaning of the gas pipe which might causes some power outages in some parts of the country.

” The West African gas pipe line company want to do cleaning in the pipe that transport gas from Nigeria to Ghana for better flow of the gas. With this they will reduce it’s operations or for sometime shut it down for cleaning”.

” They have also made it clear that the thermal plant in Tema will not have gas when this operation start but the one in Takoradi will have gas” he stated

He added if this happens Tema thermal plant can use liquid fuel to operate while they wait for the gas from the West African gas pipe line company, but according to honorable John Abduali Jinapor , the new minister for energy designated there is limit fuel for operations.

” According to Mr Jinapor, they fuel they ordered has not arrived yet and even if this new government orders another fuel it will take them line two weeks which will cause problems”.
