The General Secretary of Public Utilities Workers Union , Timothy Nyame has expressed concerns about the potential privatization of the Electricity Company of Ghana( ECG) as it may cause potential political interference.
Speaking to kasapa fm, he stated that the government should be careful in handing over the ECG to private investigators, emphasizing on the fact that some of these investors might not have good intensions.
” Private investors are coming to him , some of them have thier personal interest in the matters of ECG. He should be vigilant about these people because they may not have good intensions” he stated
He added that the Public Utilities Workers Union are not against the idea of president Mahama about privatizing ECG but they want him have a careful selection of the people he is bringing into the power sector.
” We are not saying we won’t allow it but we want him to be vigilant . He can have stakeholders in the power sector so that the work will be done well for the people of Ghana”.
