Former Deputy Secretary of the New Patriotic Party (NPP), Nana Obiri Boahene, has publicly stated that he was not in support of the controversial National Cathedral project.

Speaking on Kasapa News, Nana Obiri Boahene revealed that when the idea of constructing a national cathedral was first introduced, he strongly opposed it, citing concerns about the financial implications of such an ambitious undertaking in a struggling economy.

According to him, the government’s decision to invest significant resources into the project was particularly troubling given the country’s pressing needs in other areas, such as healthcare.

“I am a Roman Catholic, but I wasn’t in support of the National Cathedral project because of the amount of money involved, especially when we don’t even have basic healthcare services, like dialysis machines in hospitals for treatment,” Obiri Boahene said.
