
A 40-year-old well digger has died after falling into a 50-foot well while carrying out repairs at Enyan Abaasa in the Ajumako Enyan Essiam District of Ghana’s Central Region.
The victim, identified as Abeka, was a resident of Agona Nsabaa in the Agona East District and had been hired to clear clogged soil from the well to restore water flow. However, while working, he lost his footing and fell to his death.
The tragic incident occurred on Sunday, March 16, 2025, at around 8:45 a.m. Efforts to retrieve his body lasted several hours, with personnel from the Nkwantanum Fire Service, Enyan Abaasa Police, and residents finally recovering it by 1:45 p.m.
Abeka’s body has since been deposited at the Etuafua Mortuary for autopsy and preservation. His family has been informed of the incident.
He leaves behind a wife and three children.
