The Assin South District Police Command has arrested 45-year-old Emmanuel Baidoo for allegedly attempting to murder his ex-girlfriend, Vivian Baffoe, in a bush between Etsi-Fawomanye and Assin Sibinso in the Assin South District of the Central Region.

The motive behind the suspect Emmanuel Baidoo’s actions is believed to be the emotional distress from his girlfriend’s decision to end their relationship.

Vivian Baffoe had informed Emmanuel Baidoo that she could no longer continue with the relationship, which led to the attempted violent incident.

According to the police narrating to Ghone News Yaw Boagyan said,a distress call was received reporting that a group of about one hundred angry youths had attacked Baidoo, severely beating him and damaging his vehicle at Assin Sibinso.

A team of officers, led by Detective Corporal Nii Armah Ashitey, swiftly responded to the scene and found a Nissan saloon vehicle (registration number GS-7082-17) severely damaged and abandoned at the side of the road.

The group of youths had attempted to set the vehicle on fire, but the suspect was not present at the scene.

Inquiries revealed that the suspect had been attacked by the angry mob and was rendered unconscious thereby rushing him to the Nyankumase Ahenkuro Health Center for treatment.

Upon visiting the health center, the police found Baidoo receiving medical attention.

The police impounded the damaged vehicle and arrested the suspect, detaining him to assist with the ongoing investigation after being discharged by medical staff.

Preliminary investigations by the police indicated that, on March 9, 2024, at around 10:00 pm, Emmanuel Baidoo and his ex-girlfriend were returning from Etsi Fawomanye when a heated argument escalated.

The suspect stopped the vehicle along the route, dragged Vivian Baffoe to a nearby cocoa farm, forced her to kneel, and attempted to kill her.

Vivian Baffoe’s screams caught the attention of a taxi driver, who alerted the community members in Sibinso.

The town’s residents then confronted Baidoo, beat him, and damaged his vehicle.
