Government has washed its hands off any financial obligation for supporters of the National teams in future tournaments.

Per the new decision, supporters wanting to participate in tournaments have been asked to solicit for their own sponsorship, which may include airlifting, accommodation and feeding of their members as well.

The direct involvement of government in deploying public or state funds to cater for supporters in tournaments has ceased henceforth.

This was issued in the Government white paper from the Dzamefe Commission of Inquiry report conducted into the 2014 World Cup Fiasco. The commission was formed under C.I. 82 of 2014, following Ghana’s poor showing at the 2014 FIFA World Cup in Brazil.

The three-member commission led by Appeals Court Judge Justice Senyo Dzamefe finished its work in December 2014 with key recommendations on how to write the wrongs.
