At least 32 deaths have been recorded so far in Ghana regarding the deadly Pneumococcal Meningitis, official report say.

The widespread disease which has currently hit the Brong Ahafo, Ashanti and the Northern regions of Ghana with reported cases of over 90 are being handled in major health facilities within these regions.

Meanwhile, the Ministry of Health insists experts have contained the Pneumococcal scare asking residents of the Brong Ahafo region and others not to panic over the outbreak.

Pneumococcal Meningitis is a deadly disease in which there is swelling and irritation (inflammation) of the membranes covering the brain and spinal cord (meninges).

The disease is caused by viral or bacterial infection, with symptoms like intense headache and fever, sensitivity to light, and muscular rigidity.
