Health workers in Wa in the Upper West Region are said to be leaving their duty post to attend political campaigns.
According to the Wa Municipal Chief Executive Issahaku Nuhu Putiaha, some of the nurses have been found to have abandoned patients to join electioneering programmes including political rallies of their preferred parties.
Speaking at the two-day 2015 Annual Review Meeting of the Wa Municipal Health Directorate under the theme: Improving Maternal and Child Health the Role of stakeholders, the MCE warned such health workers to desist from the bad practice or face disciplinary actions when found guilty.
“Staff indiscipline to me is one of the major issues, which is very critical. I hear from the grapevine that some of you jump onto the campaign trail; I just want to caution you to desist from partisan politics” Hon. Issahaku Nuhu Putiaha.
Workers belonging to the essential services especially those on duty are barred from engaging in partisan political activities to the detriment of the citizenry.
