Newly elected parliamentary candidate of the NPP in the Efuase-Ayirebi Constituency, Kojo Oppong Nkrumah, has dismissed claims there are protests against him.

He’s told Kasapa FM reports of him and his team being attacked after the elections on Saturday were being pushed by elements he says are not from his core support base in the constituency.

Reports on Saturday suggested he and his team had been attacked by persons who weren’t happy with his win, and had vandalized some campaign vehicles.

But Oppong-Nkrumah told host of Anopa Kasapa, Fiifi Banson, on Monday that all his properties were safe.

“All my cars I used in campaigning are safe. Nobody has vandalized any of them. In the constituency we have 45 settlements. After the election, in one of the settlement, some few guys among them were not happy that their candidate lost and so took to the streets to demonstrate. So, it wasn’t the entire constituency that went haywire. Nobody came to my house to vandalize any property.”

Mr. Oppong-Nkrumah won the Efuase/Ayirebi NPP parliamentary primaries by amassing 219 votes to beat his closest contender, John Obiri-Yeboah who managed 145 votes. The other contestant Bright Asamoah Acquah had 54 votes.
