Daniel Asiedu,Killer of MP J.B Danquah being sent to court

An Accra Magistrate Court has ordered the Criminal Investigative Department (C.I.D) of the Ghana Police Service to remove Daniel Asiedu, the self- confessed killer of the late Abuakwa North Member of Parliament, J.B Danquah Adu from a solitary confinement.

This was after lawyer of the suspect; Augustine Obuor requested the presiding Judge, Stephen Owusu to grant his client the plea, on his second appearance in court today (Tuesday March 1).

Kasapa News Court correspondent, Daakyehene Ofosu Agyeman, reported that Counsel Augustine Obour told the court that after having a conference with the accused; it became clear that he (accused) had been held in a secluded place, preventing him from getting in touch with other inmates.

He said whereas other inmates are allowed to play football and mingle with themselves, Daniel Asiedu remains in his confined cell.

Lawyer Obour further requested the court to have the suspect transferred to the Nsawam Prisons. Additionally he wanted his client referred to the Psychiatric Hospital for assessment.

But the prosecution led by Superintendent Baah opposed the plea and pleaded with the court to remand the suspect in C.I.D custody for investigations to continue. Their wish was granted

Presiding Judge Stephen Owusu however turned down the application to have the suspect referred to the Psychiatric hospital.

Daniel Asiedu was in court Tuesday standing trial for gruesomely murdering the MP dawn on Tuesday February 9 at his home at Shiashie in Accra.

Police investigations showed he suffered two stab wounds, one to his rib, the other to his abdomen.
