Popular Reggae musician and host of Taxi Driver on Accra-based Hitz FM, Blakk Rasta, would soon be dragged before the Privileges Committee of Parliament for questioning over his ‘wee’ comments on members of the House.

The controversial radio host is reported to have said that about 80 percent of Members of Parliament (MP) smoke marijuana popularly known locally as ‘wee’ and therefore, does not see the reason why its usage has not been legalized in the country.

“There are about 80% of parliamentarians who smoke weed so why do people think those who smoke marijuana go mad.”

His comments have irked the parliamentarians who are pushing for him to be dragged before the Privileges Committee of the House for questioning.

MP for Afigya Sekyere East, David Hennric Yeboah, who raised the issue on the floor of Parliament Wednesday, prayed to the Speaker, Rt. Hon. Edward Doe Adjaho, to immediately summon the reggae musician for denigrating the legislature.

The Speaker, who was equally not enthused about the reggae musician’s comments directed Hennric Yeboah to meet him at his office for further deliberations before making a pronouncement or ruling on the matter.

Moments after the sitting, Mr. Hennric Yeboah told Kasapafmonline.com’s parliamentary correspondent, Stephen Odoi-Larbi, he only wants Blakk Rasta to appear before the Privileges Committee of Parliament to share his findings on ‘wee’ smokers with members,” he noted.
