President Mahama has cut the sod for the construction of the Apedwa-Kibi-Bunso stretch of road, which forms part of a bigger plan to improve the cocoa road projects in the transportation sector.

Also a number of arterial roads in the Eastern region have been scheduled for construction, courtesy the Cocoa Road projects being implemented this year.

Government has budgeted some USD 600 million every year for five years to fix roads in the farming communities.

The plan is to take on-board other stretch of roads which had also been neglected for several years.

They include 5 km of Kyebi town roads, Koforidua-Bunso stretch, Suhum township, Adeiso, Osenase and Asamankese among others.

President Mahama says the road projects are necessary to secure good transport system for an ease in transporting farm products to the market centres.
