Officials of the South African High Commission in Ghana are expected to be given access later today to three of their nationals who are in the grips of the Bureau of National Investigations (BNI) for allegedly engaging in acts that threaten national security.
The ex-South African Security Forces personnel were picked up at the El-Capitano Hotel, at Agona Duakwa in the Central Region where they had been based since arriving in the country early this month.
They were said to be training some young people in various security drills, including unarmed combat, weapon handling, VIP protection techniques, and rapid response manoeuvres.
The New Patriotic Party (NPP) has confirmed the 15 people being trained by three South African ex-police men are part of its security detail, but denied links to any treasonable motive.
Kasapafmonline.com is reliably informed that the South African High Commission has written to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs requesting to speak with the three detained ex South African Security Forces personnel.
Their plea has been granted and officials of the High Commission are expected to have time with their nationals by close of day Wednesday.
