A rainstorm that hit Goaso and surrounding communities in the Asunafo North Municipal in the Brong Ahafo Region, Tuesday, has left about 500 people homeless.

The rainstorm which lasted for about thirty (30) minutes also destroyed several properties running into thousands of Ghana Cedis.

Manhyia Zongo, a suburb of Goaso, was the hardest hit with hundreds of buildings, kiosks and containers having their roofs destroyed by the rainstorm.

The Home Science Block of the Ahafoman Senior High Technical School also had its roof destroyed as well as the Residence of the Catholic Bishop in the area.

The offices of Genesis Radio were not spared either, compelling the local FM station to temporarily suspend its operations.

Eric Agyapong, a reporter with Genesis Radio told Kasapafmonline.com that the National Disaster Management Organization (NADMO) is yet to visit the community.

According to him, moments after the rainstorm, the Chief of the area, Nana Baffour Bosomprah, together with his elders, visited the affected homes to commiserate with them.

“Around 11pm Nana Bosomprah was still visiting the affecting homes. This morning, he has also been spotted in areas he couldn’t visit moments after the storm to see how best he could help them”, Agyapong reported.
