Music Producer, and Programmes Director for Accra-based radio station HITZ Fm, Mark Okraku Mantey has said comments made by one of the station’s presenters Blakk Rasta that suggested 80 percent of members of parliament in Ghana’s parliament smoked weed, were distasteful.

Appearing before the privileges Committee of the House Thursday as a principal witness Mantey told the Committee’s Chairman that the said publication has since been taken off their sister station Adom FM’s website because they thought it wasn’t tasteful.

“It is not tasteful.. wasn’t tasteful.. as a business we decided to do the right thing.”

The controversial radio host is reported to have said that about 80 percent of Members of Parliament (MP) smoke marijuana popularly known locally as ‘wee’ and therefore, does not see the reason why its usage has not been legalized in the country.

“There are about 80% of parliamentarians who smoke weed so why do people think those who smoke marijuana go mad.”

His comments irked the parliamentarians who pushed for him to be dragged before the Privileges Committee of the House, the hearing of which is currently taking place.
