President Mahama has met with the outgoing Country Director of the World Bank Yusupha B. Crookes.

Crookes is leaving Ghana after spending some three years as Director.

As Country Director, Yusupha’s top three priorities included providing innovative products and services that respond to diverse development challenges in Ghana to achieve sustainable economic growth and poverty reduction.

He was also supposed to support staff of the Bretton Woods institution and the country management team, working closely with internal and external partners, to enhance results on the ground.

Crookes was also Country Director Liberia and Sierra Leone, and was in charge of implementing the priorities of a new Africa Strategy while adjusting to corporate realities and opportunities.

He holds degrees in Economics, Finance and Accounting.

His assignments at the Bank have covered various responsibilities in the Caribbean, Russia and Central Asia, Turkey, South Asia and various countries throughout Africa.  Prior to joining World Bank, he worked in equity research and investment management in the United Kingdo
