The Chairperson of the Electoral Commission (EC) Charlotte Osei has dismissed rumours that she once contested as a Parliamentary Candidate for the ruling National Democratic Congress (NDC).

There have been allegations that the EC Boss, stood as the NDC Parliamentary Candidate for Evalue Gwira constituency in the 2008 election.

A campaign poster with a lady’s picture who Mrs Osei’s accusers claim is her and bearing the name Charlotte Kesson-Smith {which is the EC Boss name} recently went viral on social media platforms with those who published it claiming it was a confirmation that she was indeed biased towards the NDC party.

She has come under severe attacks mainly from the largest opposition who claim by her actions and inaction she’s showing that she is bed with the ruling party.

But speaking to Paul Adom Otchere on Metro TV’s Good Evening Ghana Thursday, Mrs Osei stated that she has never been a member of any political party, and has never contested a parliamentary election.

“Criticisms by themselves are not bad, for all f us we need criticisms to improve upon whatever we are doing, the problem is with unfounded allegations…comments that are without basis, some are malicious and mischievous. So if you put for instance that I have ran for office as a member of parliament (on the ticket of NDC), when I’ve never been a member of a political party then that is troubling because you are seeking to attack the credibility of the institution.”
