General Secretary of the Peoples National Convention (PNC) Bernard Mornah has said the ongoing Talensi by-election cannot be said to be a dress rehearsal for the 2016 general elections.

President John Dramani Mahama while addressing the ruling NDC party’s final rally in Talensi on Sunday described the by-election as a ‘dress rehearsal’ for the 2016 elections, adding that the outcome would communicate the fact that Ghanaians are ready to retain the NDC in power in 2016.

“Talensi is the dress rehearsal, the thermometer, and the barometer for 2016, we need to send a strong signal about what is going to happen in 2016 in Ghana…,” President Mahama said.

But the PNC Scribe Bernard Mornah thinks otherwise.

He said both the ruling NDC party and the largest opposition party, NPP should not be proud of the results at the end of the election, since both parties have hugely influenced the electorates to vote for them.

“You are happily saying the Talensi by-election will be a dress rehearsal for the NDC come 2016 election, when you sincerely know that you have bribed the electorates with goodies for them to vote for you”.

“Even as late as last night both the NDC/NPP were seen shamefully sharing bags of rice and second-hand clothing for the electorates, you do this and you’re proud?”

Bernard Mornah condemned the act of vote buying by the two big parties as in so doing some of the best candidates are denied the opportunity of serving their people simply because they don’t have the means to pay monies.

“It is not surprising that some of the best materials never get to go the parliament to help build Ghana, some of our parliamentarians are of very poor quality such that they cannot even express themselves in basic english language and they are in Parliament just because they could afford to pay.”
