Former first lady of the land, Nana Konadu Agyeman Rawlings will not be part of the presidential candidates contesting for this year’s election following her disqualification by the Electoral Commission (EC) of Ghana.

It is the second time Mrs. Rawlings who is the presidential candidate of the National Democratic Party (NDP) has been disqualified from contesting the presidential polls with the first one being the 2012 presidential polls.

Konadu, according to the Chairperson of the EC, Charlotte Osei, was disqualified because the number of subscribers to her forms did not meet the requirements of Regulation 7(2)(b) of C.I.94.

“One subscriber on page 89 of her nomination forms is not a validly registered voter and illegally registered twice and so is on the Exclusion list of multiple voters,” Charlotte Osei told journalists at a news conference in Accra on Monday.

The subscriber’s identity was given as Salifu Abdulai from the Nanumba South District with Voter ID number 6617004814.

The same person also holds another Voter ID with registration number 212690022.
