Farmers in the Eastern region who were honoured today for their efforts in putting food on our tables as part of this year’s National Farmers Day celebration, were awarded with ‘Joy Daddy’ bitters, cutlasses, spraying machines among other items, the second time in two years.

The ‘Joy Daddy’ bitters, ‘Joy twede3 bitters’ and Joy lime (all alcoholic drinks) were awarded to the best farmers in various categories at the ceremony held at Krobo-Odumase in the Eastern region.

The first of such awards in the same region was presented during the 2014 annual National Farmers day, where there was huge public uproar against organizers of the event as the items which included alcoholic drinks and toilet rolls, were seen as a disrespect to the farmers who have laboured to feed the country is the past years.

The organizers explained that Joy Industries the manufacturers of Joy Dadi bitters is a major sponsor of the event hence just as other products from other sponsors are given out, the alcoholic beverage must be added to the package.

This year’s event which is the 32nd farmer’s day celebration was held under the theme ‘Agriculture: A Business Response to Economic Growth’.
