The disqualified Presidential candidate of the All People’s Congress(APC) Hassan Ayariga has indicated he will return to court to seek justice over the Electoral Commission’s (EC) decision to throw him out from the Presidential race for the second time.
Mr. Ayariga who was disqualified along with some 12 other hopefuls failed to meet the set criteria again when the EC granted them a second opportunity to correct their nomination which had some anomalies.
An embattled Ayariga has accused the EC chairperson of sheer bias against him and deliberately scheming to cause his exclusion from the 2016 Presidential race.
Addressing a Press conference in the capital, the disgruntled leader of the APC said he’ll continue to seek redress in court over his disqualification and the unfair treatment meted out to him by the commission.
“We want justice for our nation. We want justice for the many millions of Ghanaians who are before me and around me. It is not about Dr. Hassan Ayariga and the APC. It is about our nation. And all of you want to see that justice is delivered. In mathematics, once you get one equation wrong no matter the formulas you used the end results will be wrong. So if we allow the virus of the EC to affect Dr. Hassan Ayariga, it will affect the rest of you in the future and we don’t want that to happen. So lets correct the virus now and make sure no one thinks he/she is bigger than this country. And people should not used personal reasons to make judgment in this country.
“That is why we have the Supreme court, the High court, and we will seek justice in the high court from today. I’ll not seek an injunction on the whole process. I wouldn’t want to hold the whole country to ransom but I will seek for justice to be delivered to me and for the whole world to know that people cannot take the law into their own hands and walk away with it.”
