Former President John Agyekum Kufour has cautioned members and sympathizers of the largest opposition New Patriotic Party (NPP) in the Akuapem North constituency in the Eastern Region not to vote “skirt and blouse” during the upcoming December 7 election.

According to the ex first gentleman of the land, constituents will do themselves a great disservice if they fail to vote massively for their son, Nana Akufo Addo who’s Flagbearer of the NPP as President, and Nana Yaa Dokua as Member of Parliament for the area.nana-dokua
Akuapem North constituency which is one of the strongholds of the largest opposition party in the Eastern Region, in the past few months been boiling with political activities in both the ruling National Democratic Congress (NDC) and the NPP with both parties suspending some of their members for supporting an independent parliamentary candidate.

A group of 14 suspended polling station officers of the NPP in the Akropong constituency recently vowed to vote against the party’s parliamentary candidate, Nana Yaa Dokua. They say they will vote for an independent candidate, Asiedu Ofei who broke away from the NPP in the upcoming elections.

They however aid they’ll be voting for the NPP’s presidential candidate, Nana Addo Dankwah Akufo-Addo, accusing Nana Dokua of masterminding their suspension.

But speaking at the NPP Akuapem North campaign launch at Akropong on Monday, ex President Kufour urged the electorate not to spurn the opportunity of putting both Nana Akufo Addo and Nana Yaa Dokua in governance position to ensure further development of the area.

“Someone has drawn the map of Ghana indicating with pictures that since independence all regions except the Eastern Region has produced Presidents of Ghana. This is the year for Akropong, Okuapeman and the Eastern Region to push to the highest office of the land, your son who has offered himself to the service of Ghana . If you fail to support him, then you’ll have yourself to blame. Be firm in your minds, and don’t allow anyone to deceive you to vote ‘skirt and blouse’ in this constituency. Vote for Nana Akufo Addo as President and Nana Dokua as your Member of Parliament.”
