The Paramount Chief of the Suhum Traditional Area, Osabarima Ayeh Kofi  has described as absurd President John Mahama’s assetion that the Flagbearer of opposition New Patriotic Party (NPP) Nana Akufo Addo will destool chiefs who speak against his governemnt when he wins power.

President John Mahama has accused the three-time Flagbearer of the NPP of being intolerant, saying he’ll even cause the destoolment of chiefs who criticize his government if he (Akufo Addo) wins power come December 7 election.

He said Ghanaians will do themselves a great deal of disservice if they vote for such a divisive leader who is not ready to accept any contrary views to his position held on issues.

Speaking at a mammoth rally at Suhum recently as part of his campaign tour of the Eastern Region, President Mahama stated that divisions and suspensions in the NPP under Akuffo Addo vindicates Ex-President Kuffuor statement captured in a video where he advised party members to elect a leader who is not divisive and creates tension.

He said Nana Addo’s leadership and happenings in the NPP points out that he cannot rule Ghana in unity.

But speaking at a durbar of chiefs and people of Suhum on Thursday when Nana Akufo called on him, Osabarima Ayeh Kofi stated that he’s unable to undertand why the President made such a definative statement when such an action is clearly impossible and if effected will be in contravention of the constitution of Ghana.

What was most laughable to me was the claim that if Nana Akufo wins power, he’ll destool me. This statement was made here in Suhum, I think this is how we should do politics. Because I know that it is only the people of Suhum who can destool me, not even the Okyehene…those you rule are the only people who can destool you. The destoolment process will come from my family, then to the people of Suhum. So we should just laugh over some of these statement made by politicians.” Let us listen to what they tell us, we take only what is good and ignore what will not help us, that is how I do my politics. Let’s pray and bless Akufo Addo and his team as they fight on ahead of this election, if God has purposed to crown him a king, no individual can stop it.”
