The Progressive People’s Party (PPP) have paid a glowing tribute to their late 2012 vice-presidential candidate, Madam Eva Lokko, whose mortal remains was laid in state, Friday, for the public to pay their last respect.

Madam Lokko, until her demise on Thursday, October 6, 2016, was the parliamentary candidate of the PPP for the Korle Klottey constituency.

She passed away in the United States of America where she had been flown for medical treatment.

Communications Director of the Awake family, Paa Kow Ackon, interacting with journalists over the demise of the late GBC boss said Lokko had left a very big scare in their minds, believing that God will grant her a better place in His Kingdom.

To him, Ghana has lost a very illustrious daughter who excelled in all the fields she worked to advance the progress of the country.

“Today is a very sad day for us. If you look at the way people are wailing and gnashing their teeth, it tells you that the nation has indeed lost a very important person. She is the first female Satellite Engineer in Ghana. Anyone who knows something about satellite engineering will tell you that it is a course that is very difficult and so only few people are able to pursue that course. It is our prayer that God grants her a better place in His bosom and we know we shall meet again someday,” he noted.

He described the late Madam Lokko as a mother and a very wonderful person who always advised the communication machinery of the PPP to be very careful “not to become an insulting party” but rather “stick to the issues as they emerged” in order to gain the respect of Ghanaians.

Madam Lokko, he further noted, was so passionate about Ghana to the extent that she was always looking at creating employment opportunities for the jobless youth.

“So we saw her as someone who if the PPP had won the elections, was going to do great things for Ghana. She was very important for the country. If we had gotten somebody like Madam Eva Lokko, Ghana would have been a better place to live in,” he said.

He added, “I will forever remember her for her discipline and bravery. If you have monitored her for some time, you would have noticed that the things that people consider it to be very difficult, she does not see it that way. What she can also be fondly remembered for is that once she takes a stance on a particular issue, nothing can change her mind.”
