The Electoral Commission (EC) of Ghana says it has extended voting in Dwarf Island in the Afram Plains North constituency to 10; 00 pm.

The decision, according to the electoral management body, is due to late kick-off of the polls.

Voting commenced in Wednesday’s presidential and parliamentary polls at 07:00 GMT but some polling stations across the country fell behind time due to late provision of electoral materials and in some cases dispute by party officials over the location of the polling station.

The EC in a tweet said the voting in the Dwarf Island will continue until 10:00pm.

In places where there is no electricity, the EC says it will provide solar powered lamps which will provide light for 8-12 hours.
