The New Patriotic Party (NPP) has said it will proceed to court to challenge results of the December 7, Parliamentary election in five constituencies in the Brong Ahafo Region.

According to the party, the outcome of the election in Banda, Pru East, Asutifi South, Asunafo South, and Pru West constituencies were fraught with anomalies.

The opposition NPP which currently occupies 13 seats in Parliament, won 7 additional seats during the December 7 election increasing its number to 20 seats in the yet to be inugurated 7th Parliament while the NDC will have 9 seats.

The Deputy General Secretary of the NPP, Nana Obiri Boahene in an interview on Adom FM’s Burning Issues programme on Monday expressed confidence that the NDC will be left with 4 seats at the end of the NPP’s court case as the party has a solid case.

“In Asunafo South, the names on the voters register in one polling station had 241, ballot papers provided at the polling station was 350. But at the end of voting, total number of ballot cast found in the ballot box was 405. How is this possible? even if dwarfs mysteriously voted at that polling station, the ballot cast wouldn’t have been that much.”

Nana Obiri Boahen, added that the NDC is waiting for the results of the election to be gazzetted, following which the party will proceed to court and challenge the results.
