President John Dramani Mahama is in Nigeria’s capital, Abuja for an ECOWAS Heads of State Summit which is expected to open today, Saturday, December 17, 2016 in the West African nation.

This will be his last meeting before leaving office next month.

The three-day summit will see the West African leaders discuss ways of talking defeated Gambian President, Yahya Jammeh to step down peacefully after losing elections in his country.

An earlier delegation of West African Presidents who held talks with Mr. Yahya Jammeh on accepting the results of the recent polls was to no avail.

There are fears of possible political crisis in the country as the President-elect Adam Barrow has vowed to swear himself in as the next President in January, 18 despite the deadlock persisting now.
