President Akufo Addo has said his government remains commited to ensuring the revival of Anglogold Ashanti to once again boost the economy and also enhance the living conditions of the Adansi people.

According to him, his government recognizes the key role Anglogold Ashanti has played in the past towards the growth of the Ghanaian economy and will make sure the firm is brought back on track.

President Akufo Addo was addressing a delegation of Traditional leaders, led by the Adansihene Opagyakotwere Bonsra Afriyie II when they paid a courtesy call on him at the Flagstaff House on Wednesday.

“I promised you during the campaign that if the NPP wins the election and I’m elected President we’ll ensure the revival of Anglogold Ashanti. The Sunday after the Friday on which the EC Chairperson officially declared me as the President-elect, Max Brixtol of Randgold called to inform me that once I’m sworn in and my government settles down, he’ll come and see how best Anglogold Ashanti could be revived. Ghana’s name cannot be mentioned without Anglogold considering how proceeds from the sale of gold has sustained the economy over the years. We thank God for our oil find which is doing well for the economy, but we cannot forget the immense contribution from our gold proceeds. So rest assured, this government will ensure Anglogold is back again. The NPP government is in power to ensure the living condition of Ghanaians is enhanced.”
