The President of the Ghana Independent Broadcasters Association (GIBA) – Akwasi Agyeman, a member of the Council of Elders – Dr. Chief Crystal-Djirackor, the Executive Council and some Members on Wednesday, February 22, 2017, paid a courtesy call on the newly appointed Director General (DG) of the National Communications Authority (NCA) – Mr. Joe Anokye, to welcome him into office and assure him of the continuous collaboration between GIBA and the NCA.

Mr. Agyeman briefly touched on a few outstanding issues in the broadcast industry and requested that the DG gives GIBA the opportunity to present a detailed outline of the outstanding issues in another meeting as soon as possible.

In the spirit of camaderie, other issues were discussed, touching on radio reclassification, pay TV issues and NCA’s indebtedness to GIBA among others.

The DG, thanked the delegation for the gesture and assured GIBA of working within his powers to ensure a win-win situation. He recognized that the industry is bedeviled with challenges but with the active collaboration of all, he believes solutions can be found. He promised making himself available in the shortest possible time to receive the presentation of issues from GIBA.
