Ghana marked the 69th anniversary of the 28th February Christianburg crossroads shooting incident on Tuesday 28th February 2017 in Accra.

The February 28 shooting incident which led to the death of three servicemen, SGT Adjetey, CPL Atipoe, and Private  Odartey Lamptey, is celebrated every year to honour the defenceless Ex- servicemen who were killed in 1948, by the colonial police as they marched peacefully to the Osu Castle to present a petition to the then governor over some unfulfilled promises made them.

The event was attended by President Akufo-Addo and other dignitaries.

At the event, the Minister of Defence, Dominic Nitiwul announced that the President has directed the Ministry of Defence to release 200 million Cedis for the welfare of members of the Veterans Association of Ghana.

President Akufo Addo described the veterans as special people who must be cared for by the state.

…He has tasked my ministry to release 200 million Cedis for you. So my ministry will release that 200 million Cedis for you,” Hon. Dominic Nitiwul disclosed.
