The Ministry of Interior has emphasized that the security agencies under its purview are currently not recruiting.
The Ministry said, there are reports that the Ghana Police Service, Ghana National Fire Service, Ghana Immigration Service, Ghana Prisons Service are recruiting personnel for various positions.
Per a statement signed by Deputy Minister of Interior, James Agalga, the Ministry insisted that “there is no recruitment being conducted by the Agencies under the Ministry.”
“The General public, is hereby, advised to be wary of any person or group of persons claiming to recruit into the security services. Any such person or group of person should be reported to the nearest Police Station,” the statement added.
The Ghana Police service has in the past few months been hit with a number of recruitment scams which in its wake had the Director General of Human Resource Development of the Ghana Police Service, COP Patrick Timbillah being interdicted for his alleged involvement in the scam.
Seven people were subsequently picked up and were being investigated over the recruitment rip-off.
They included two police officers Constable Ruth Agyiri, 27, of the Central Police Station in Koforidua who allegedly swindled a victim of Gh¢1,500, and Corporal Gideon Sarpong.
The others are a radio presenter of Silver Radio Amos Brown, 40, who according to the Director General of Public Affairs of the Ghana Police Service David Nenyi Ampah-Bennin, has taken various sum from over 40 persons to enlist them in the police service, Richard Harrison, 30, who lured others for over Gh¢4,200, and a pastor Paul Danso.
