NPP candidate-elect for Tema West Constituency, Carlos Ahenkorah, has said he strongly believes that the thirst for change in the Parliamentary Candidate for the area ahead of the 2016 elections ensured his victory over the weekend in as much as he also ran an effective campaign.

According to him, the delegates and the electorates were denied the opportunity of choosing who they wanted as their MP in the party’s primary ahead of the 2012, per the manner in which the incumbent MP Irene Naa Torshie was elected.

Mr. Ahenkorah polled 502 votes to win the fiercely contested Tema West NPP parliamentary polls while his competitors, Irene Naa Torshie Addo and Adwoa Amoako polled 273 and two votes respectively.

The contested was preceded by a lot of controversy over attempts by Naa Torshie to have Mr Ahenkorah disqualified by the Greater Accra Branch of the party because Mr Ahenkora was said not to have nurtured the party at the constituency level, but eventually the National Appeal Committee of the party cleared him to contest.

Speaking to Fiifi Banson on Anopa Kasapa on Kasapa 102.3 FM Monday, Mr Ahenkora expressed gratitude to the delegates for the honour done him, adding that he will return the honour by working relentless to garner massive votes to retain the seat and also shore up Nana Akufo Addo’s votes in the 2016 elections.

He said the difficulties he had to pass through in the run up to the election by way of attempts to disqualify him does not make him bitter in anyway.

Mr Ahenkora noted that he will continue to foster a c itself for the upc ordial relationship with Naa Torshie Addo to ensure a united front as the party readies oming crucial elections.

“ I know that anything I do to antagonize Naa Torshie now or in the near future will be to my own disadvantage as we go into the 2016 election. I will make sure we have a good rapport such that she will be willing to join my campaign for an eventual victory for the NPP”.
