The Minority in parliament will later today hold a Press Conference to address a damning review report on the Ameri agreement released by government.

A 17-member committee set up by the Energy Minister, Boakye Agyarko and chaired by Mr Philip Addison revealed in its report that Ghana was made to pay an extra $150 million as commission to the Ameri group to deliver a power plant in the heat of Ghana’s power crisis.

The indictment has been rejected by a former Deputy Minister of Power who dismissed the claims describing it as untrue.

A former Minister of Power and Member of Parliament(MP) for Pru-East in the Brong Ahafo region, Dr. Kwabena Donkor whose tenure the agreement was signed is expected to  address the Press conference.

Meanwhile the World Bank has said the review of the $510million energy deal is the way to go.

The Ghana Country Director of the World Bank, Henry Kerali, speaking on the deal said: “We think it is right for the government of Ghana to review the Power Purchase Agreements that were signed.”

“With the pending power generation plants still to come online, it will still go to increase the excess capacity, he added.
